This publication describes the results of a study funded under the Human Capital and Mobility Programme, the predecessor of TMR.

It traces the careers and the professional life of young researchers who have been awarded a fellowship under different fellowship programmes of the European Community such as Stimulation, Science and Human Capital and Mobility. The study gives an overview on how fellowships work, on the number of people involved, on how the fellows perceived their fellowships as well as the views of their supervisor. With the help of several questionnaires biographic and professional profiles of fellows but also the profiles of the host institutes have been established.

Altogether this study offers a fascinating insight into Community fellowship schemes in general and into the benefits for individual fellows.
