Objectives of research
Main objectives:
- Identification of options currently available and likely to become available in the short and medium term for implementing "co-operative driving", based upon ATT systems for motorway type roads. - Development of scenarios of "highest potential impcat" for each of the systems identified. - Identification of the elements needed to successfully deploy these ATT measures in field testss, and create awareness of the potential of this area of TTIM. Main stages: - A review of the current state of the art in ATT systems. - Workplan and evaluation plan for the technical workpackages. Assessment of potential benefits of ATT systems in selected scenarios. - Compilation of recommendations for beneficial conditions essential to successful completion of field trials. - Promotion of project findings to bring "best use" field trial options to the attention of user groups, industrial consortia and infrastructure owners.
