1st Opportunity to fund your EU – US NGI experiment! - NGIatlantic.eu launches its first Open Call Today NGIatlantic.eu is excited to open the first of 5 Open Calls for proposals with an overall budget of 2.8 million Euro. European organisations can use this funding to carry out research & innovation activities in collaboration with US counterparts on NGI experimental platforms. The purpose is to incentivize collaboration between EU and US research teams to meet the technical challenges posed by the vision of a more human-centric, Next Generation Internet. Digital Economy © NGIatlantic.eu 871582 The first of the 5 NGIatlantic.eu Open Calls for funding opens today, 1st April, 2020, financing short term (ST) or long term (LT) proposals and will remain open until 29th May, 2020 at 17:00 CET. The main goal of the NGIatlantic.eu Open Calls is to encourage EU – US NGI teams to carry out experiments using EU and/or US based experimental platforms through a cascade grant process, where funding is made available for the EU counterparts of the teams formed. - Who can apply? Any EU or possibly more than one EU organisation active in the domain of one of the 1st Open Call topics (whether previously involved in other NGI projects or not), applying together with a US organisation. The focus of the Open Calls will be the first set of priority topics in the EU’s Next Generation Internet (NGI) Initiative and related topics, where results are already available from previous NGI RIA projects, to be partnered with US partners and an Experimental Platform of the proposer’s choice. Please note that even if you weren’t involved in the previous NGI RIA projects, the call is open to all! - The topics for the 1st NGIatlantic.eu Open Call are Key enabling NGI technologies - 5G, Big Data, IoT, Cybersecurity, A.I. and others, addressing: -Privacy and Trust enhancing technologies – experimentation of results on the NGI call topic related to the development of robust and easy-to-use technologies to help users gain improved trust and greater control when sharing their personal data, attributes and information. -Decentralised data governance - experimentation of results on the NGI call topic related to leveraging distributed open hardware and software ecosystems based on blockchains, distributed ledger technology, open data and peer-to-peer technologies with particular focus on ethical, legal and privacy issues, as well the concepts of autonomy, data sovereignty and ownership, values and regulations. -Discovery and identification technologies - experimentation of results on the NGI call topic related to new methods of search, discovery, and access of large heterogeneous data sources, services, objects and sensors, devices, multi-media content, etc. and which may include aspects of numbering; providing contextual querying, personalised information retrieval and improved quality of experience. Each proposal will be evaluated by three members of the NGIatlantic.eu External Pool of Evaluators (EPE) within 30 days of call closure.
