The European Commission, DG XIII, maintains pages on the I'M Europe World Wide Web server which provide information on Commission activities and initiatives for libraries in both the European Union and Central and Eastern European countries. Most of the activities covered on the pages are the responsibility of DG XIII E/4 which manages the "Telematics for Libraries" sector of the Telematics Applications specific RTD programme. Commission actions for "Library cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe" include: - Information pack on "Introducing information technology in libraries"; - International conference on library automation in Central and Eastern Europe, held in Budapest in April 1996; - Survey relating to library activities in Central and Eastern Europe. In addition to Commission activities, the pages also contain information from individual libraries and national agencies involved in libraries projects in the EU and Central and Eastern Europe. On these pages details of events and publications may be found, as well as news of the latest initiatives.
