The European Commission, DG XII, has published the first volume of the report of COST Action 917 on "Biogenically active amines in food". This report addresses biologically active amines in transgenic plants.

The main objective of the five-year project is to improve our knowledge on the importance and contribution of biologically active amines in the diet to growth and health by establishing their bio-availability and clarifying their physiological functions.

This first volume summarizes the outcome of a meeting held in Aberdeen (UK) in January 1997. The participants included representatives from Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands.
