The European Commission, DG X, has published the 1998 call for proposals under the RAPHAEL programme in the field of cultural heritage. In keeping with the programme's objectives, proposals must be designed to highlight common cultural heritage features. Proposals for profit-making projects, or projects which are purely national or bilateral (except projects for the exchange of professionals) will not be considered. Proposals may be submitted in the following actions: - I: Conservation, safeguarding and enhancement of European cultural heritage through European cooperation; - II: Cooperation for the exchange of experiences and the development of techniques applied to heritage: . II.1: Support for projects aimed at the mobility and training of professionals; . II.2: Support for the exchange of experience and information, for projects implemented by partnerships or networks; - III: Improving public access to, participation in, and awareness of cultural heritage, focusing on movable heritage in 1998: . III.1: Support for transnational cooperation projects between museum institutions for the enhancement of and accessibility to heritage; . III.2: Support for events to raise public awareness of cultural heritage. Projects, other than those for the exchange of professionals, must involve participants from at least three Member States or other eligible countries. Community financial assistance may not exceed 50% of the total cost of the project.
