The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for technical assistance covering the exchange of information and guidance to the Associated Countries of Central and Eastern Europe on approximation to EU environmental legislation and policy, and related pre-accession activities. To meet the needs in this field, the Commission has established a special information service with the aim of providing authorities in the Associated Countries with updated information on legal and technical aspects of EU environmental law and policy. The main channels for disseminating this information are: - A telephone help-line service; - A bimonthly newsletter; - A guidebook to EU environmental legislation. The Commission intends to enlarge and strengthen this information service by providing regular updates on new initiatives in EU environmental law and policy, and by publishing loose-leaf addenda to the guide when new environmental legislation is adopted. The contract for providing these services will run for 12 months. Tender documents may be obtained from the following address: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Mr. B.
