The CORDIS - United Kingdom Council Presidency RTD Information Service was created to help you keep up-to-date on important developments taking place in the area of research and technological development (RTD) during the United Kingdom's (UK) term as the EU Council President, 1 January - 30 June 1998. The service was developed jointly by CORDIS and the UK Office of Science and Technology (OST), part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The service is designed to help broaden your understanding of the many R&D activities and initiatives supported by the EU and implemented in the Member States. The service helps you easily access timely information on the range of current Council policy issues, as well as research and related developments in the UK during the course of the Presidency.

Updated weekly and available in English, French and German, the CORDIS - United Kingdom Council Presidency RTD Information Service also features an on-line Press Service which reports the latest news on RTD issues, activities and decisions within the UK during the six-month Presidency.

Special coverage keeps you informed:

The new service features information on the following areas:

- Council Presidency R&D Activities;
- UK R&D and Key Events;
- R&D in the UK;
- UK Participation in EU R&D;
- Key Contacts;
- Useful Internet Links.

In the text (TXT) field of this News article, we present a selection of case studies which illustrate how researchers in the UK are benefitting from the EU's research programmes. These show the many and varied areas in which UK organizations are involved as well as the range of different types of organization participating.
