Gas cleaning projects for the ECSC Technical Coal Research Programme

The Commission's Directorate General XVII (Energy) invites project proposals for targeted projects on gas cleaning for the ECSC Technical Coal Research Programme. The maximum amount of aid available for this purpose is expected to be up to ECU 2 million.

Applications for financial aid are invited for a collaborative research project to study the removal of hydrogen sulphide from coal-derived fuel gas by a range of sorbents and the regeneration behaviour of the sorbents used. The projects should have the following features:
- Be presented and carried out jointly by organizations in at least two, or preferably, three of the Community Member States;
- The research should be carried out on the laboratory scale, or in the existing larger facilities;
- The temperature and pressure ranges to be investigated are from around 300 degrees Celsius upwards and from 10 to 25 bar respectively
- Be carried out with a range of gas compositions using either gas from existing gasifiers or representative gas mixtures
- High priority must be given to the exchange of results and experience among the participants during the course of the research.
