Implementation of the European Technology Transfer Initiative

The European Technology Transfer Initiative (ETTI) at the JRC specifies five primary actions aimed at improving technology transfer and collaboration in research across Europe. The creation of a European Technology Transfer Network (ETTN) is one of the actions required to implement this initiative.

ETTN aims to improve the availability of technical research and expertise for European industry, and to stimulate their commercial exploitation through an effective network of services and information exchange. The objective is to translate technological knowledge and achievements into industrial and commercial successes, through the use of secure telecommunications-based services.

The whole action is divided into five lots, however the present call concerns only the following lot:

- Lot 3: Multi-sectoral services involving the identification of 15 regional/local "platforms" of SMEs, which consist of a network of a variety of actors (e.g. research centres, innovation centres, universities, technology parks) collaborating, on a regional and decentralised basis, with multi-sectoral SMEs.

The first phase of this action will be to nominate a "technology broker" per "platform", and then organise and stimulate transnational technology transfer between these platforms, through the training and coordination of the technology brokers.

The networking of these technology brokers, as well as cooperation between SMEs from different platforms, will be organised by the contractor under the responsibility and supervision of the Commission.
