One of the main tasks of the European Environment Agency (EEA) is to disseminate environmental information to key clients and to the European public. To this end they are building a reference centre for environmental information, comprising various services to facilitate access to environmental information and data. They have recently published an invitation to tender to establish two service contracts to obtain support for the development of the reference centre. The contact is divided into two lots: - Lot 1: To provide consulting services to develop further the EEA Website to serve users better in their search for environmental information. Tasks will include the reorganisation of the present Website, the development of navigation tools based on the indexing of pages (meta-tags), graphical design, access to databases, and HTML coding of documents; - Lot 2: To provide consulting services to develop further the EEA data warehouse (built on SAS software). The tasks include developing data capture mechanisms from environmental data sources, administering metadata, and developing user interfaces for the exploitation of warehouse data. For both lots, the EEA is looking for a senior consultant to work full time in-house at the EEA in Copenhagen, with back-up support.
