Authorization for State aid, pursuant to Articles 92 and 93 of the EEC Treaty (cases where the Commission raises no objections), is published with regard to the following RTD-related projects:

- The Netherlands: Aid to stimulate additional R&D efforts in the areas of information technology, material technology, biotechnology and environmental technology (aid of ECU 50 million during 1992); aid to Philips in the framework of EUREKA project 5 HDTV (ECU 11 million, 1991); aid for the D2TV foundation (ECU 15 million to December 1996); industrial RTD programme for the gasification of coal (ECU 13 million, 1992-1996); flanking policy to encourage participation in the JESSI project (ECU 10.2 million, 1991-1992); encouragement for Dutch businesses to participate in international R&D projects (ECU 7 million, 1992); aid to Philips research in the field of mechatronica (3.25 million, 1991); aid to Philips research in the field of consumer ICs (ECU 3.25 million, 1991); aid to Philips research into liquid crystal displays (ECU 13 million, 1991).

- United Kingdom: Industrial evaluation of high-power lasers, EUREKA 194 (ECU 2.5 million, 1991-1996); R&D grant scheme, Local Enterprise Development Unit (ECU 829 thousand); product and process development programme (ECU 6 million, 1992/1993).

- France: Support for Rhone-Poulenc research in biotechnology (ECU 87 million, 1992-1998); 1992 refinancing of major innovative projects to improve quality of use and safety of new technologies and products (ECU 54.5 million); 1992 refinancing of ANVAR, the Agence National pour la valorisation de la recherche (ECU 174 million repayable, ECU 31 million grants).

- Italy: Visual quality control system for textiles, EUREKA 349 (ECU 2 million over 5 years); advanced mobile robots, EUREKA 18 (ECU 11 million over 7 years); Alenia electronic recognition system (ECU 11.7 million over 5 years); 1991 refinancing of the Fund to promote research in enterprises (ECU 308 million); research into new peripheral and central analgesics (ECU 8.3 million over 6 years); Italcable global network and control system (ECU 21.6 million over 6 years).

- Germany: Innovation promotion scheme in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (ECU 1.1 million, 1992-1995); basic research, JESSI AC 8 (ECU 7.9 million 1992-1993); innovation promotion programme, Thuringia (ECU 18.3 million, 1992-1995); basic research in modern, trend-setting technologies, Schleswig-Holstein (ECU 15.5, 1992).
