Funding for technology transfer is provided for in new regulations for the PHARE programme of cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries published by the European Commission. The new regulations published in the Official Journal will govern the latest phase of the PHARE programme. The EU contribution will, in principle, be provided as a grant, although, when revenue is generated, this may be offset against the grant in part or total. Costs covered may include: technical assistance, studies, training and other institution-building measures; supply of essential equipment; or, investment operations, including work programmes. The new regulation, number EC 2760/98, replaces number EC 1628/94.
