The European Commission's Maritime Information Society (MARIS) Programme has been contacted by the Global Maritime Network Inc (GMN) of Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, regarding its latest development - database software with real-time bidding capability, which means that hardware can be purchased within seconds.

GMN has developed software that enables the maritime industry to improve product development and the business process through Excess Component Supply Management (ECSM).

The ECSM can reduce the cost of repair and manufacturing by utilising already existing hardware, which also enables users to manage effectively the excessive costs associated with procurement of new hardware from the original equipment manufacturer, according to GMN.

The ECSM capabilities provide several key business advantages, including a unified electronic repository of all-excess hardware and access to industry-wide and enterprise-wide component and sub-assembly-level content.
