Romanian participation in the Communities health programmes

The Association Council has adopted a Decision No 6/98 (1999/110/EC) between the European Communities and their Member States and Romania, adopting the terms and condition for the participation of Romania in the community programmes in the field of health and social policy.

The Decision means that Romania shall participate in the European Community programmes, such as health promotion, combating cancer, prevention of AIDS and other communicable diseases, drug dependence and equal opportunities for men and women.

The Decision also includes the terms and condition for Romania's participation in the Community programmes mentioned above. Additionally the Decision lays out Romania's financial contribution, which covers:

- Financial support from the programmes to Romanian participants;
- Supplementary costs of an administrative nature related to the management of the programmes by the Commission stemming from Romania's participation.

The Decision shall apply until 31 December 2000 and entered into force on the 1 January 1999.
