Commission announces open call for proposals for the Euratom Programme

The European Commission has announced an open call for proposals for RT actions under the specific programme for research, and training (Euratom) in the field of nuclear energy (1998 to 2002).

The call relates to proposals called under a continuous submission scheme. Proposals will be evaluated at fixed intervals, depending on the type of indirect RT actions submitted. Deadlines for receipt are provided for these.

Those eligible to participate in indirect RTD actions (shared cost actions, concerted actions and Thematic Networks) under the specific programme, are invited to submit proposals that address the following parts of the work programme.

- Research and technological development of a generic nature:
- - Radiation protection and health;
- - Environmental transfer of radioactive material;
- Industrial and medical uses and natural sources of radiation;
- Internal and external dosimetry;
- Support for research infrastructures:
- - Large scale facilities;
- - Networking;
- - Databases and tissue banks;
- Training:
- - Individual fellowships (Marie Curie) - Applicable to the whole programme (Fusion and Fission);
- - Special training courses;
- - Research training networks;
- - Cooperation with third countries;
- Accompanying measures:
- - Supporting studies; exchange of information, conferences, seminars, workshops, scientific and technical meetings; dissemination, communication and exploitation activities; support to research players, including SMEs.
