The CORDIS UK Web service, established in association with the United Kingdom's Office of Science and Technology, has recently published a mini-guide for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on what funding is expected to be available to them under the European Commission's Fifth RTD Framework Programme (FP5). This is available from the CORDIS Member States Information Service UK pages at: URL: http://cordis.europa.eu/united_kingdom/src/fp5-sme.htm It details the different kinds of funding available to SMEs, such as shared-cost actions, cooperative research awards (CRAFT) and exploratory awards. It also gives useful information on what help is available for preparing a project proposal and finding research partners around Europe. An introduction to the Fifth RTD Framework Programme is also now available from the UK pages of the CORDIS Web server via: http://cordis.europa.eu/united_kingdom/src/fp5-mini.htm This covers the scope of the programme, in terms of the areas of science, technology and innovation that it covers, what projects are eligible for funding, who can take part and how much money will be available. It also weighs up the pros and cons of taking part in FP5 and includes a detailed list of UK contact points for each subsection of the programme.
