Euroscience-ESF partnership The Strasbourg-based European Science Foundation (ESF) and Euroscience associations have announced today the launch of a partnership whereby each entity has become member in the other organisation in order to reinforce their collaboration and engage into future joint projects. On 28 November 2017 Euroscience became a full member of the European Science Foundation (ESF) after discussion and approval by the ESF’s General Assembly. In parallel the ESF Assembly approved ESF’s corporate membership application to Euroscience, application which was since then formalized by the Euroscience Governing Board. The two organizations decided by this gesture to strengthen a mutual collaboration that started in 2011, when ESF and the City of Strasbourg decided to host EuroScience in the ESF’s premises on Quai Lezay-Marnésia in Strasbourg. Dr Peter Tindemans, Secretary General of EuroScience and Dr Jean-Claude Worms, ESF Chief Executive, indicated that this partnership would allow both organizations to reinforce their cooperation and engage into joint projects in support of the development of the European Research Area, in particular in terms of helping various Central and Eastern European countries build capacity in research and reinforce their integration in and contributions to the European research landscape. The ESF President Mr Martin Hynes stressed that the membership ESF/EuroScience would reinforce the collaboration between both organisations, highlighting the influence of EuroScience, through its members and in particular through its ESOF conference organised every two years. Dr. Jean-Claude Worms added “The European Science Foundation has been hosting EuroScience since 2011 and we are very proud to enter now into a more active partnership with such an important organization for science in Europe, which can garner the collective wisdom of scientists, science journalists and the general public interested by scientific developments”. Dr Peter Tindemans said “EuroScience looks forward to collaborate further with the European Science Foundation. It is our common interest to strengthen the European science and innovation endeavour by supporting individual scientists and innovators, science institutions and policies across the whole of Europe.
