The EUROCONTACT database has been selected as the most effective means of managing the upcoming 1993 ESPRIT call.

EUROCONTACT is a European R&D partnership brokerage service, funded by the Commission of the European Communities, and provided by the EUROKOM Company. EUROCONTACT is call-specific, the database is regenerated for each call and therefore contains information which is exclusively relevant to that call. This means that researchers using the servied can search for potential partners based on current information.

The service comprises a network of distributed databases made up of a central database at the EUROKOM Host computer in Dublin and a local database at the ESPRIT National Contact Points (NCPs) in each of the EC and EFTA countries. Data from NCPs is consolidated into the central database for redistribution to the other national databases.

For the 1993 ESPRIT call, the Commission have requested EUROKOM to introduce a special "GUEST" service (available when the call is announced) which will be available to all researchers. First-time users may connect to EUROKOM and register online without further administration, hence gaining having access to the ESPRIT Workprogramme and to the EUROCONTACT service. No charges will be incurred from EUROKOM as these will be met by the Commission.

It should be noted that the CORDIS RTD-Partners Database is also available to those seeking research and technological development partners in the context of Community supported RTD. This free service covers all areas of Community RTD, particularly the specific programmes within the present Third Framework Programme, as well as a number of related programmes and actions
