Establishing the gender impact of FP5

To find out the gender impact of the European Union's Fifth RTD Framework Programme, the Commission's Research, Information Society, Enterprise and Energy Directorates-General are offering contracts for eight studies, to focus on FP5's specific programmes. The results of these studies will be used to formulate recommendations for a better integration of the gender dimension in future research activities and programmes.

The invitation to tender is divided into eight lots relating to each specific programme of FP5, with the exception of the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development programme, which will be considered through two studies.

- Lot 1: Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources;
- Lot 2: User-friendly Information Society;
- Lot 3: Competitive and Sustainable Growth;
- Lot 4: Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development - energy;
- Lot 5: Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development - environment;
- Lot 6: Confirming the International Role of Community Research;
- Lot 7: Innovation and Encouragement of SME Participation;
- Lot 8: Improving Human Research Potential and the Socio-economic Knowledge Base.

The Commission has also launched a call for tenders relating to the coordination of these studies. Tenderers may not apply both for studies and the coordination task.
