Anyone interested in learning about the Centre for Earth Observation's (CEO) most recent activities will find its latest newsletter a good place to start.

It features a collection of reviews of some of the CEO's projects, including:

- An update on the latest developments in the European Environmental Information Services (EEIS) project, launched in 1998, which aims to bridge the gap between the two large user communities of environment and earth observation;
- Details of the SATWEB project, for secure on-line data exchange through the Web;
- A description of the CEO's new ENVIP-Nature project, launched in January this year. The project focuses on environmental indicators for nature protection and concerns the definition and provision of a standard set of criteria, indicators and methods which use earth observation data and geographic information systems to view the European landscape. The CEO hopes that the results from this work will help to establish the feasibility of setting up a common European strategy for nature conservation.
