Artists, designers and programmers of websites are invited to begin preparing for the 2000 UNESCO Web Prize.

The prize aims to promote the creation, maintenance and use of artistic websites and cyber communities in fields that relate to UNESCO competencies - education, science, culture, communication, information and informatics.

Prizes of $5,000 will be awarded in two categories - a free theme and an imposed theme category, to be announced shortly.

The closing date for entries is 1 June 2000, and the URL must be submitted a month later on 1 July 2000. The winners will be announced the following October.
