EARMA, the European Association of Research Managers, is now officially opening its office in Brussels.

EARMA is a pan-European organisation that aims to enhance the effectiveness of research in Europe by improving the quality of management and administration in practice and application.

EARMA is playing a key role in the current development of a new career qualification within European public administration in the research field (the Master of International Research Administration) as well as exploring the possibility of setting up a European Certification Programme for Research Managers and Administrators.

In addition to this academic and political role, EARMA is also active in a number other ways. The EARMA e-mail network, for example, is being used by a growing number of EARMA members to help each other with advice, information and expertise. EARMA's training activities and international conferences are also becoming increasingly well known.

EARMA seminars, workshops and training courses address the needs and responsibilities of research managers and administrators from all over Europe. They can vary from more general themes such as 'Effective negotiation' to 'How to write a competitive proposal for the European Commission's Fifth RTD Framework Programme'.
