The European Community's Agreements for Scientific and Technological Cooperation with the Argentine Republic and with the People's Republic of China have now been published in the Official Journal, following their conclusion on behalf of the Community at the December Research Council.

Under the terms of the Agreements, researchers from China and Argentina will be able to participate in most EU-funded research activities under the Fifth RTD Framework Programme's four specific programmes (not including nuclear activities). Likewise, EU researchers will be able to participate in corresponding research activities in these countries.

The Agreement with China has already entered into force.

In the Argentine Republic, the Agreement is now under evaluation in Congress, and will enter into force as soon as the country has completed its ratification procedure. Argentine partners may already however join consortia to participate in current proposals for the Fifth RTD Framework Programme.
