CORDIS, the European Commission's official on-line research information service launches its new homepage at http://cordis.europa.eu/ on 25 January in a revamp to make it more user-friendly. The ten-year-old service has undergone a facelift in both its presentation and its architecture. CORDIS News, in particular, will look different to users now it is presented in a magazine-style format. The day's top stories will appear on the first page readers come to in the CORDIS News service. From here, users can browse the latest news - from the current day and from the previous week. Readers can also search the whole News archive for specific topics of interest. The new News service also has an interactive element, with a new form for readers to submit information directly to the news editor based in Brussels. However it should be noted that the News service can, as a rule, only publish articles with a clear link to EU research, innovation or related activities. Another innovation is a new unified search facility for the whole website, which will be a great help for users navigating through the range of resources available on CORDIS, which include more than 40,000 Web pages. As well as the new look, users will notice several new services in the coming weeks, including on-line access to the Helpdesk, and guided tours to help users make the most of CORDIS.
