HIV, AIDS and population-related operations in developing countries

Proposals are being sought by the European Commission for HIV/AIDS and population-related operations in developing countries.

Projects should be within the geographical and thematic areas covered by the budget line as described in the Guidelines for Applicants 2000. This document is available at:

Thematic priorities for 2000 are set out in section 1.2 of the guidelines.

Research institutes, non-profit making non-governmental organisations, Community-based organisations, international organisations with specific experience in the field of AIDS/HIV and population, national and local authorities, public and private sector institutes and operators independent from public administration are all eligible to apply.

The minimum grant will be 1 million euro. However a limited number of up to five proposals for actions between 500,000 euro and 1 million euro will be considered.

The overall indicative budget is 20 million euro, of which 15 million euro would be made available for HIV/AIDS projects and 5 million for reproductive health.

The maximum project implementation is 60 months. The deadline for applications is 16.00 on 17 April, 2000.
