Improving Human Potential calls

A new call for proposals under the FP5 Improving Human Research Potential programme has been published in the Official Journal of the European Communities, regarding support for the development of science and technology policies in Europe.

The call requires the strategic analysis of specific political issues relating to science and technology policies, in particular in the following areas:

- European S/T policies and national and global systems;
- Articulation between RTD and other policies within the European institutional environment;
- Management of change in S/T policy;
- Collaboration in science, technology, and innovation: changing needs and opportunities.

These activities should ensure a continuous open dialogue with experts, policymakers and intermediaries involved in science and technology policy.

There are two parts to the call: thematic networks and accompanying measures.

Thematic networks will bring together research organisations from different countries as well as policymakers and other stakeholders.

The indicative budget for thematic networks under this call is 3 million euro of Community contribution. Proposals must be sent on or before 5 June 2000.

Accompanying measures can include one or more of the following:
- Studies supporting this programme and in preparation of future activities;
- Exchanges of information;
- Information, communication and dissemination activities.

The indicative budget for accompanying measures is 1.5 million euro of Community contribution. Proposals must be sent on or before 15 June 2002. The first deadline of the continuous submission scheme will be 5 June 2000.

Potential proposers are reminded that they must consult the official call text on the Official Journal of the European Communities.
