On 15 January 2000, the second call for proposals (RTD-Projects and Thematic Networks) under the 'Improving Human Potential' programme's Key Action 'Improving the socio-economic knowledge base' was published in the Official Journal giving the deadline for the submission of proposals as 28 April 2000. Following considerations to strengthen the efficiency of the programme, the total number of calls for proposals foreseen in the Key Action has been reduced from four to three. The third (and final) call will be published in the second half of the year 2001, considerably later than initially foreseen. To avoid large intervals between the calls, the Commission services have decided to postpone the deadline for submitting proposals for the ongoing second call. The new deadline is now 28 June 2000, 17.00 hours (Brussels time). The formal announcement of this change is predicted to be published in the Official Journal of 11 April 2000.
