Eurostat, the European Commission's statistical office, is calling for tenders for the design, development and delivery of training courses in applied statistics and evaluation of individual training activities and the training programme. Training of statisticians is part of the European Community's statistical programme (1998-2002). The programme covers all fields of applied statistics. The target group consists mainly of people working in the National Statistical institutes of the EU/EFTA Member States, but also other groups, such as statisticians from the candidate countries and cooperation partners of the European statistical system, who might be interested in participating, says Eurostat. The training volume is estimated at a total of 25 courses per year over a period of five years. Each course consists of approximately five course days on average. There will be four lots of courses: - Lot 1: courses in official statistics within the European statistical system; - Lot 2: courses in management of statistical projects, marketing of statistical products and communication; - - Lot 3: courses in statistical information systems (IT), statistical research and data analysis; - Lot 4: Evaluation of training services and programme evaluation. The project should last for around five years.
