The International Chamber of Commerce has launched an online service to examine the subject of intellectual property and the issues surrounding it.

The website attempts to explain - amongst other things - what intellectual property is, who creates it, why it is important and how it is protected.

In a statement, the world business organisation said: 'With knowledge intensive industries forming an ever greater part of the world economy, intellectual property has become a key issue for policy makers and businesses.

'To help guide the business community and policy makers through this changing landscape and to alert them to emerging intellectual property issues, ICC has prepared an overview of the key current and emerging issues in intellectual property today.'

Developments in the evolution of intellectual property are laid out in an introductory chapter, followed by a 'roadmap' of key issues in the field and related government and business actions.
