The Enterprise Directorate-General has issued an invitation to tender for a study on the impact of standardisation. The study should produce a qualitative and quantitative impact assessment of standards in the European Union and the European Free Trade Area. It should be based on a sector approach and analyse the types of standards used in a range of sectors. The impact of these standards on defined key areas of Community policies related to the competitiveness of enterprises will be required. This will cover - amongst other topics - the free movement of goods within the Community, external trade and innovation, the protection of workers, consumers and the environment.
