Drug dependence, cancer, AIDS and other communicable diseases The European Commission has recently published a call for proposals relating to Community action on a number of threats to human health under the following programmes, which have recently been extended for a further two years so that they will now expire on 31 December 2002: ... The European Commission has recently published a call for proposals relating to Community action on a number of threats to human health under the following programmes, which have recently been extended for a further two years so that they will now expire on 31 December 2002: - the programme for Community action on health promotion, information, education and training; - the programme of Community action on the prevention of cancer; - the programme of Community action on prevention of AIDS and certain other communicable diseases; - and the programme for Community action on the prevention of drug dependence. This call for proposals is to ensure the rapid implementation of the extension to these programmes. The selection of projects will be based mainly on the following criteria: - No 645/96/EC on health promotion; - No 646/96/EC on Europe against cancer; - No 647/96/EC on the prevention of aids and other communicable diseases; - No 102/97/EC on the prevention of drug dependence; and to the priorities of the corresponding annual work programmes. Projects must also provide 'real added value' for the European Community. Priority will be given to large scale projects and projects involving public bodies and sectors.
