Studies in the domain of open network provision (ONP)

The Commission of the European Communities, Directorate-General for Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research, DG XIII/A has issued an open invitation to tender for three studies in the domain of Open Network Provision (ONP):

- Network interconnection: The interconnection of different networks will be a significant issue in the future competitive regulatory environment. This major study will address the technical, commercial and regulatory aspects involved (study duration 9 months).

- Network integrity: The maintenance of network integrity is one of the key factors to be taken into account when considering regulation of access to , and use of, telecommunications networks. The study will investigate the technical, commercial and regulatory issues involved and review the harmonized application of this requirement at the European level (study duration 6 months).

- Calling and called-line identification: These facilities provided throughout the future telecommunications networks will enable a new set of voice and data related applications to be developed on a Europe-wide basis. There are, however, important privacy and data protection issues which this study is designed to address (study duration 6 months).

Tenders may be submitted individually or jointly. In the case of group bidders, one must be designated as the lead contractor and agent responsible. Tenderers may apply for one or more studies.
