The Council and the Representatives of the Governments of the Member States adopted on 3 December 1990 a Resolution on improving the prevention and treatment of acute human poisoning (including poisoning resulting from the taking of illegal drugs). Member States are invited to take specific related measures, inter alia, the collection and annual harmonization of data from poison centres (to be forwarded to the Commission before 15 May of the following year), plus provision for the wide availability of antidotes and for better emergency services. The Commission is invited to make regular summary reports to the Community, particularly on preventive measures, and to expand on specific topics based on information received from Member States. A harmonized case data record sheet, a layout of the harmonized annual reports and an indicative list of antidotes are appended to the Resolution.
