FLAIR-FLOW is a specialized EC dissemination project which was set up in response to a perceived need that more of the information and results from European food research programmes should reach the end users.

Until the present, FLAIR-FLOW has been one of the 33 projects in the FLAIR (Food Linked Agricultural Research) programme, the multiannual research and development programme in food science and technology (1989-1993). It will continue during the three years 1994-1996 as FLAIR-FLOW II under the agricultural RTD programme.

FLAIR-FLOW is supported by the FLAIR and VALUE programmes. Set up in 1991 it is operational in the 12 Member States and in Austria, Finland, Norway and Sweden. It also undertakes research investigating new routes of information flow.

A publication from FLAIR-FLOW explains the aims of the project and gives details of the national networks operating in each of the participating countries. The collective disseminating power of these 16 FLAIR-FLOW networks, via some 320 active network members, and their downstream activities, is immense and runs into millions of potential contacts in Europe.

The brochure "FLAIR-FLOW: A New and Successful European Approach to Dissemination" also contains a listing of all FLAIR-FLOW technical documents published to date.
