Two Council Decisions of 4 and 5 March 1991 (91/159/EEC and 91/160/Euratom respectively) concern the conclusion of an Agreement between the European Communities and Romania on trade and commercial and economic cooperation. Inter alia, the Contracting Parties shall make efforts to encourage and promote cooperation in research, development, science and technology, including nuclear research, and in industry, mining, agriculture, energy, environmental protection, transport, telecommunications, medical services, standards and statistics. The Agreement shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date on which the Contracting parties have notified one another that the necessary legal procedures are completed and shall be concluded for an initial period of five years. The Agreement replaces those existing between the EEC and Romania regarding trade in industrial products. The text of the Agreement is attached to the Decisions.
