The European Community's Joint Research Centre has published its Annual Report for 1993. It presents the complete activities and achievements of the JRC and its eight institutes, accompanied by the observations of the JRC Board of Governors. Activities carried out during 1993 included the rationalization of resources and improvements to the internal efficiency of the Centre. Cooperation with national laboratories and the creation of research networks was stepped up, which helped to facilitate the Centre's integration within the European scientific community. Progress with regard to recent cooperation between the participating EEA/EFTA countries and the JRC's institutes continued. Scientific and technical support for Community policies was further developed, including the formation of the European Chemicals Bureau and the European Office for Wine, Alcohol and Spirit Drinks. More detailed information on the JRC's activities may be found in the annual reports of the individual institutes.
