Technical support for SOCRATES and Youth for Europe programmes

The European Commission's Task Force for Human Resources, Education, Training and Youth has published an open call for tender for a public services contract relating to the Community's SOCRATES and Youth for Europe programmes. The contract concerns the provision of technical support to the European Commission in connection with the implementation of the programmes.

The SOCRATES programme concerns the implementation of Community policy in the field of education, while Youth for Europe concerns the implementation of Community policy in favour of young people. Both are in the process of adoption and will cover the period 1995-1999.

In connection with the implementation of these programmes, the following tasks are required:

- To assist the Commission to set up a programme infrastructure and to execute related tasks of a general nature;
- To assist the Commission to analyse requests for funding;
- To provide, on behalf of the Commission, administrative and financial management services for various contracts to be awarded under the programme;
- To assist the Commission in various informational tasks related to the programmes;
- To provide organizational management services.

The Commission retains sole responsibility for the implementation of Council decisions and, in particular, for the liquidation of financial contributions committed to the execution of such decisions.

The organization selected will be responsible for providing technical support for the SOCRATES and Youth for Europe programmes from 1 May 1995 to 30 April 2000, on the basis of a one-year contract renewable annually for a maximum period of five years.
