The European Commission has invited members of the G7 to a conference on the information society on 25-26 February 1995 in Brussels. At the last summit of industrialized countries in Naples, it was decided to hold a meeting of the relevant ministers to "encourage and promote innovation and the emergence of new technologies, including, in particular, the development of open, competitive and integrated information infrastructures". In addition, the conference will be held in the framework of the Bangemann Group report on the global information society. The conference will begin with a round table of representatives from industry from the Member States, the USA, and Japan. The relevant ministers will also participate in the round table. In addition, three sessions will be held on: - The development of infrastructure and cooperation between the different countries; - The need for a regulatory framework compatible with the spirit of competitiveness, but guaranteeing the protection of property rights and personal privacy; - The consequences of the information society not only on the economy and employment, but also on society and life style.
