Call for proposals for Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU 2013 part 1)

The European Commission has published the first part of its call for proposals for Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU 2013 part 1), which is coming under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

Acknowledged as key components of our future energy system, fuel cells and hydrogen technologies have been supported by the R&D Framework Programmes of the EU since 1986. The Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking was established in 2008 to further support these activities. It notably aims to place Europe at the forefront of this promising market, support RTD activities in Member States and associated countries, encourage public and private investment, and undertake supportive actions through calls for tender.

The call, which has a budget of EUR 68.5 million, consists of 27 topics coming under five areas of research: transportation and refuelling infrastructure; hydrogen production and distribution; stationary power generation and CHP; early markets; and cross-cutting issues such as social acceptance, education, performance test schemes and guarantees of origin. Successful applicants are expected to bring their projects to completion by June 2017.
