The "Telematics for Education and Training - DELTA '94 Conference" took place in Neuss, Düsseldorf (Germany), on 24-26 November 1994.

Due to the strong interest in this area, the conference was over subscribed, and instead of the anticipated 650 participants, close to 1000 people were present. Participants came from all over Europe - east and west, the Nordic countries, USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Australia and India; from the public and private sectors, SMEs, universities, training departments and research institutes.

Almost 30 projects were exhibited, some of which included live video communications with Canada, Mexico, France, Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands and Finland, involving the following projects:

- Advance Communication for Training (ACT);
- Multimedia TeleSchool (MTS);
- European Open University Network (EOUN) for the launching of the Eurostudy Centers of EADTU.

Some of the more interesting developments in the conference took place in the workshops, where like-minded participants got together to discuss a key issue or topic, for example, international cooperation, involving users, evaluation, and the needs of SMEs. New products and services were demonstrated. Participants met and discussed common interests, where new partnerships were formed and some proposals drafted for the next call for proposals.
