The CORDIS RTD-Projects database provides details of individual project contracts being carried out within various Community-funded programmes, and in particular the Framework Programmes of research and technological development.

The entries include project title, description and aims, programme references, start and end date, current status, contract number and details of the main contractors and other partners. Over 23,000 projects are covered and the database is updated every two weeks.

At the request of CORDIS users, new features have been added to the database since the beginning of 1995. Whereas previously it was only possible to view the address of the project coordinator, users are now provided with details of the partner organizations involved in particular projects. These are included in the "PAR" field which also contains the contact details of individual contacts within the partner organizations.

The final projects funded by the THERMIE 1 and CRAFT programmes are expected online at the beginning of February 1995. These will be followed by projects taking place within DG III's ESSI programme and DG XII programmes such as Environment, Human Capital and Mobility, Agro-Industrial Research, and Measurements and Testing (under the Third Framework Programme).

Future additions to the database will include additional projects signed by DG XIII for the Telematics Libraries programme (LIBRARIES), those created within the accompanying measures phase on telematics engineering within the Telematics programme, as well as all the projects under way within the LIFE programme.

The RTD-Projects database, in keeping with other CORDIS databases, can be searched online using Watch-CORDIS or the Common Command Language (CCL), or alternatively by using the CORDIS CD-ROM.
