Practical guide on the legal aspects of industrial subcontracting in the EC

The European Commission, DG XXIII, has published an invitation to tender for the completion of a study on the legal aspects of industrial subcontracting in the EC.

The European Commission intends to update volume II of "The practical guide on the legal aspects of industrial subcontracting in the European Community" (Office for Official Publications of the European Communities, ISBN 92-826 4652-1).

The aim of this practical guide is to improve contractual relations between principals and subcontractors, especially when these relations involve a transnational element. The first volume of the guide endeavours to describe the elements which must be mentioned in a subcontracting contract. The second volume presents, in a comparative analysis, the legal environment applicable to subcontracting relations in each of the European Community Member States.

The objective of the present study is to improve the practical and teaching aspects of the guide and to include the latest legal modifications in each of the Member States of the European Community, in particular by extending the comparative analysis to the countries of Finland, Austria and Sweden.
