Invitation to tender for the manufacture and testing of technical/scientific equipment

The European Commission, DG XII, has published an invitation to tender for the manufacture and testing of technical and scientific equipment for the Institute of Transuranium Elements (Joint Research Centre).

The equipment is to be used in glove boxes and hot cells. Possible work conditions will include use in:

- Low temperatures (up to -270§C);
- High temperatures (up to 3500§C);
- Vacuum (up to 10-8 bar);
- High pressures (up to 10**3 bar).

The manufacture of this equipment requires precision mechanical work employing all common machine tools, on special steel, light metals, copper alloys and plastics as well as the carrying out of soft- and hard-soldering work on special steel and copper alloys. The contract will be carried out in accordance with plans and/or designs in the institute workshop and close cooperation with the awarding authority's scientific groups is required.

Tenderers must provide proof of experience of similar work in research establishments especially in the area of nuclear research. The tender documentation consists of a technical specification of the work to be carried out and a description of the special conditions for carrying out work at the Institute for Transuranium Elements.
