The European Commission, DG XIII, has recently published a "Documentation Guide" for the education and training sector of its Telematics Applications programme (TELEMATICS). The guide is intended as a reference tool to help those involved in telematics for education and training projects to develop effective communication strategies.

More specifically, this loose-leaf publication aims to help project partners:

- Plan project communications with an external audience;
- Produce a range of documentation and outputs which conform to publishing industry standards and best practice in research methodology;
- Adopt project management practices which lead to effective communication;
- Select appropriate styles and methods for documentation;
- Devise and use a project house style.

The guide, which was produced for the European Commission by Cambridge Learning Systems Ltd., is a stage-by-stage reference to the use of tools and techniques which will help match a service or a product to user needs. It includes a disk containing templates for report covers and logos for Telematics Applications, as well as a selection of overhead projector transparencies. A glossary and a list of further available resources is also included.
