Support for a network of relay centres in Community Member States is one of the main features of the "centralized action" for dissemination and exploitation of research results, proposed by the Commission as a follow-up to the VALUE programme (COM(90) 61 of 31.1.1991 in OJ No C 53 of 28.2.1991). Their objective shall be to publicise Community research programmes and support dissemination and exploitation, particularly in the provision of advice and assistance to SMEs located in peripheral or remote areas of the Community. A working group has been created under the VALUE Advisory Committee to define the principles and procedures of such action, and feasibility studies are under way to examine the possibility of setting up pilot centres in Greece and Portugal. The intention is that the new working group will prepare the ground until such time as a centralized action advisory committee is in place.
