Technical assistance offices in the field of public health and safety at work

The European Commission, DG V, has published an invitation to tender for scientific, technical and administrative assistance in the area of public health and safety at work. The invitation to tender is divided into several specialized lots, as follows:

- Lot 1: Policies and analyses of public health, development, coordination and assessment of programmes, indicators and health data;

- Lot 2: Actions concerning illnesses linked to pollution, rare illnesses, voluntary and involuntary accidents and injuries;

- Lot 3: Epidemiological surveillance of transmissible diseases, safety and self-sufficiency of the blood;

- Lot 4: Cancer;

- Lot 5: Drug addiction;

- Lot 6: Aids and transmissible diseases;

- Lot 7: Promotion, information, education and training as regards health;

- Lot 8: Accidents at work, participation of labour and management and competent authorities as regards health and safety, work health and hygiene, prevention of professional diseases, non-legislative measures for improving safety and health in workplaces such as those detailed in the SAFE programme;

- Lot 9: Computer medium including:
. Production of transparencies and "slides show", management, archiving, dissemination;
. Training of users and localized support with starting new applications;
. Assistance within the context of downsizing (e.g. word-processing programme, Windows 95, etc.);
. Studies and analyses within the context of the setting up of new computer applications (archiving, mail management, publications management, etc.);
. Realization, updating of a computer "vademecum" for DG V.

The tasks envisaged for Lots 1-8 include:

- Supply, at the Commission's request, technical and scientific opinions or expert valuations in the fields involved;
- Help the Commission develop methodologies, criteria and processes of evaluation;
- Help the Commission prepare invitations to tender, call for expressions of interest as well as calls for proposals;
- Analyse and prepare the financing applications for evaluation by the Commission and committees specific to each programme;
- Help the Commission prepare the evaluation of financed projects and actions of programmes on the basis of intermediary and final reports;
- Help the Commission prepare meetings and seminars;
- Help the Commission with data capture, operation, management and development of the database;
- Draw up a progress report for the Commission, on a monthly basis.

Interested parties may tender for all or part of the services concerned. Each lot will be awarded separately.
