Euro-ISDN as a trans-European telecommunications network

The European Commission, DG XIII, has launched a call for proposals aimed at contributing to the development of Euro-ISDN as a trans-European telecommunications network.

Following the adoption, on 9 November 1995, of a Decision on a set of guidelines for the development of the Euro-ISDN as a trans-European network (OJ No L 282 of 24.11.1995), the Commission is inviting proposals for originally planned projects which answer needs present in several Member States, and which will be implemented in several Member States.

Proposals should be in one of the following project areas:

- Trans-European telecommunications networks for the citizen, including:
. TI 1.1 Health;
. TI 1.11 Regional health-care networks;
. TI 1.12 Trans-European telemedicine and emergency health-care services;
. TI 1.2 Education;
. TI 1.21 Network for procurement and access to learning facilities;
. TI 1.22 The European on-line school (information and communication services for schools);
. TI 1.23 European universities network for open and distance learning;
. TI 1.3 Culture;
. TI 1.31 Access to Europe's cultural heritage;
. TI 1.4 Promotion of new applications and development of cross-border applications;
. TI 1.41 Trans-European city information networks;
. TI 1.42 Trans-European electronic travel guide;
. TI 1.43 Trans-European road transport services;

- Trans-European telecommunications networks for SMEs:
. TI 1.5 Interoperability of generic services;
. TI 1.51 Generic services networks;
. TI 1.6 Electronic commerce;
. TI 1.61 Trans-European electronic commerce for SMEs;
. TI 1.7 New methods in the Information Society;
. TI 1.71 Trans-European networks for telework and other work methods.

The Commission intends to hold an information day in Brussels, Belgium. The date and details on how to participate in this will be provided in the accompanying information package.
