The European Environment Agency (EEA) has launched a call for tenders for projects within its programme for the "Dissemination and pooling of existing information and know-how"'. The tender is in four separate lots as follows:

- Lot 1 (EEA 96/2): Computing intelligent processing technologies (CIPTs) for supporting environmental decision-making. The objective of the project is to provide the information (in a handbook format) necessary to conduct systematic consultation, retrieval and analysis of environmental information/data with the adoption of CIPTs;

- Lot 2 (EEA 96/3): Directory of environmental data sources on CD-ROMs. The objective of the project is to provide an updated and comprehensive listing of environmental data sources on CD-ROM;

- Lot 3 (EEA 96/4): GIS as an environmental policy decision support system. The objective of the project is to identify, categorize and describe GIS functions that would optimize environmental decision-making processes at local and national levels and also enhance environmental management techniques of public authorities and SMEs;

- Lot 4 (EEA 96/5): Environmental computer-based models (ECBM) for decision-making. The objective of the project is to conduct a reconnaissance of available ECBMs; to describe how they can increase the efficiency and accuracy of environmental planning processes at local and national levels; and to analyse a specific set of ECBMs to provide practical experience, results and guidance for further use.
