The European Commission, DG XIII, has made the final selection of projects to be funded following the third call for proposals under the telematics applications specific RTD programme of 15 September 1995 (OJ No C 240 of 15.9.1995, p. 14).

The total number of proposals received was 413, with requested European Union funding totalling ECU 646 million. Of these, 67 were selected for funding, with a further 15 on a reserve list. These 67 proposals will receive EU funding of ECU 64 million.

The distribution of proposals selected, by sectors of the programme and estimated EU funding, is as follows:

- Research: one project, ECU 0.5 million;
- Education and Training: 11 projects, ECU 4.6 million;
- Healthcare: 12 projects, ECU 5 million;
- Disabled and elderly: 32 projects, ECU 42 million;
- Language Engineering: 11 projects, ECU 12 million.
